IBEW Local 97 Endorses Mayor Ben Walsh for Re-election flag

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced he has received the endorsement of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 97 (IBEW Local 97) for re-election as mayor. The support is the fourth major labor union endorsement for Mayor Walsh, a former union member (Laborers’ Local 633 and UFCW Local One) and employee of the New York State AFL-CIO.

IBEW Local 97 represents over 4,300 employees working for twelve different companies throughout the State of New York.

“Mayor Walsh has done a great job for the City of Syracuse over the past three and half years,” said Ted Skerpon, President/Business Manager for Local 97. “His independence and commitment to partnership has drawn investment to our region which has helped create jobs and opportunity for working people. We look forward to his leadership in a second term.”

“Local 97 members are a critical part of the region’s success and growth, so it is a great honor to have their support,” said Mayor Walsh. “My team and I are working every day to make Syracuse a stronger city for all who live and work here. We thank Local 97 for all it is doing to grow Syracuse and Central New York.”

Walsh has already received the endorsements of the Independence Party of New York, IBEW Local 43, the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters and the International Union of Painters & Allied Trades District Council No. 4, Local 31.
