North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters Endorses Mayor Ben Walsh for Re-election flag

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced he has received the endorsement of the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters (NASRCC) for re-election as mayor. Walsh is a former union member (Laborers’ Local 633 and UFCW Local One) and employee of the New York State AFL-CIO.

In its endorsement, NASRCC highlighted the importance the union places on “developing and maintaining intelligent labor laws that can serve honest workers and honest employers,” as well as the need to “ensure and preserve fair labor standards,” “fight for sustainable capital construction programs,” and protect “members from proposals which would weaken their ability secure work at appropriate wages.” The endorsement concluded, “We know you are the right candidate for NASRCC members. We stand with you in the upcoming election.”

“Mayor Walsh continues to look ahead and create more opportunities for the City of Syracuse residents. Our partnership with the Mayor has been built with a focus on collaboration and teamwork,” said Local 277 Business Manager Jim Mason. ”This effort has been proven with the Mayor’s development of the I-81 Big Table group and Syracuse Build. The Mayor’s values align perfectly with the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters vision of building a stronger future together.”

The NASRCC represents over 28,000 members who are “dedicated to their craft and set the highest standards for skills in the construction industry.”

”Local 277 has fought consistently for the working people of Syracuse and Central New York. It has also been a collaborative partner and leader in preparing people across our community for opportunities in the construction industry. I am honored to have the support of the NASRCC,” said Mayor Walsh.

Walsh has already received the endorsements of the Independence Party of New York and IBEW Local 43. The Walsh campaign is currently passing independent nominating petitions bearing the Independence Party name to secure a line on the November ballot.
