Eat to Live Food Coop flag

Following a brief false start, The Eat To Live Food Cooperative reopened its doors in April 2016 and has been operating continuously for over a year now. Located in a food desert more than one mile away from the next closest grocery store, the Co-op opened in response to calls from Southside residents who wanted better access to healthy and affordable food.

During my time at City Hall I served as President of the Syracuse Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO), which partnered with the County to jointly provide a loan guarantee to Syracuse Cooperative Federal Credit Union in support of the project. Other community partners on the project included the Central New York Community Foundation, The Gifford Foundation, and Syracuse University.

As Mayor, I will continue to pursue creative community partnerships to address to the many important needs of our neighborhoods.
